Free of Rosacea

Lost hope in rosacea treatment? Good news, there is a cure for rosacea if approached not as a skin condition however but holistically.

Rosacea is defined as "a common skin condition that causes redness and visible blood vessels in your face. It may also produce small, red, pus-filled bumps." - but this is rather a simple description of the symptoms than explanation of a cause.

My understanding is that rocasea can be a symptom of gut flora imbalance, liver disfunction, heavy metals toxification and/or the combination of all. These issues can result in histamine, lactose, gluten and oxylates intolerance. These are the underlying conditions that need to be addressed (not mentioning the inner conflicts that are crying for your attention and resolve).

A history of antibiotics intake for several years (which is prescribed regularly against UTI for instance) can be a significant " contribution" too ( by the way a large glass of warm water with sugar-free electrolytes and two drops of grapefruit essential oil would solve that issue above fairly quickly).

And what is prescribed against rosacea again? - antibiotics and antibiotic creams.

Here is the summary of what really worked for me after several years of trial and error.

Diet adjustment is the first necessary step that will bring improvement fairly quickly - within a few months. But your system will need some time to heal, so going back to eating the old way will certainly bring the "old" problems.

Nutrition

Sugar free

Sugar is a fuel for inflammation, it contributes to nothing but decay. Fructose is sugar too, so fruits and fruit juices won't do any good.

Sugar substitutes like erythritol, erythritol goldstevia, monk fruit sweetener might be a solution for some cravings, they show low or no impact on blood sugar and insulin levels.

Low carbs

Carbohydrates turn to glucose within digestive process and therefore make no difference to sugar to your body.

Plus you will be avoiding gluten completely, gluten can irritate intestines and therefore lead to all kind of conditions.

Adding kidney beans to soups, baking with coconut flour might be a possible substitution.

Low oxalates

Most vegetables are full of anti-nutrients and oxalates. Oxalates contribute to micro tissue damage that might lead to a leaky gut and therefore a range of intolerances. Low oxalates diet can make a difference in skin condition very quickly.

Although nuts are full of nutrients and healthy fats BUT they are also very high in oxalates. Nuts are better activated (soaked overnight) before consumed and consumed in low doses if at all. Nuts are very difficult to digest, so it worth waiting with nuts till your system is up and running.

Dairy free

Common dairy products might be difficult to digest and better to avoid.

Raw goat kefir with healthy bacteria might be the only exception here. Always check ingredients and sugar content.

Butter is also something I would include, goat milk butter if possible.

Cheese of a lower strength 1&2 might work in small amounts (but this is later, not in the beginning, when you might be dealing with a severe condition).

Nutrients

Your body is craving for nutrients, which are proteins and fats. Organic meat, wild caught fish, eggs, butter, coconut cream are real nutrients for your body and can make a difference very quickly. Fish, eggs and butter are the easiest to digest, they spare the most of digestive system's efforts.

Probiotics, prebiotics and digestive enzymes are essential too. Unpasteurised raw goat kefir or small amounts of raw unpasteurised sauerkraut are the best natural probiotics. Onion is the best prebiotic. There are natural digestive enzymes and healthy fats in avocado.

Blueberries and blackberries are natural sources of antioxidants and vitamins.

Apple cider vinegar helps with digestion and supports liver detoxification.

Cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, brussels sprout or courgettes baked with olive oil or steamed or in a broth could be a good choice as well but only if your digestive system copes with them well.

But you might even want to exclude everything out first and start with pure carnivore diet (highest quality grass fed organic meat is essential though!), in order to eliminate everything you might have developed intolerances to. Once the system is stable (which can take up to several months or a year depending on its current state)  you can start adding foods back slowly, one at a time.

Intermittent fasting

It's worth to give your system a break. You might eat breakfast and lunch and skip dinner or eat lunch and dinner and skip breakfast or even eat once a day whenever convenient for you. If digestive system has 18 hours of peace, it recovers much quicker and becomes more efficient.

It's not about starving yourself though, it is about sufficient nutrients intake when eating, so that you don't feel hungry for a good while.

There are a few to try out:

Milk Thistle    (liver support)

Electrolytes    (minerals complex to support metabolism)

Trace Minerals (support for many processes)

Collagen    (helps to restore gut and skin tissue)

Remedies

These can help fairly quickly but is not recommended for regular use over a long term:

Colloidal silver (1-3 tsp a day for 10 days - treats bacterial, viral and fungal infections)

Colloidal silver gel (to apply directly on the red spots, preferably overnight)

Charcoal (helps detoxification)

Bentonite (helps detoxification)

Skin Care

Mild and natural

There is no need to spend a fortune for a good product. There are some pretty decent quality products out there.

My favourites are Sukin Cleanser and Sukin Calming Night Creme.

Aloe Vera is amazing as moisturiser in the morning.

Seabuckthorn oil is a wonderful moisturiser for the night now and again, has a calming effect on the skin.

Colloidal silver gel can take some redness away overnight but I only use it for a couple of days, not over a long period of time systematically.

Exercise

I like to move it, move it

Our bodies love to move at least for a bit, stretching, yoga, running, lifting, jumping. It make us feel better as it helps to detoxify the system and balance the hormones.

Try it for yourself

All the points above is the summary of my search for a real solution for several years. I learned that these are the best ways to boost the system on many levels. It brought balance and energy to my day. And my skin was soon the first to show how good it felt.

Give it a go for a least 2-3 month and see the difference for yourself, you might not want to return to your old ways ;)
